Mediterraneo Hotel

A small resort style hotel with fabulous location on the seafront facing Bongoyo island, located about 20 mins from the city centre on the north coast of Dar es Salaam.

THE ACCOMMODATION

17 one story cottage style rooms with en suite bathrooms complete with bathtub. Each room has a chill out verandah, most overlooking the ocean. All rooms have cable TV and feature stone tiles and wrought iron furniture.
12 of the rooms are sea facing and there are 5 cheaper garden facing rooms.

THE FACILITIES

Good restaurant and bar with fantastic location overlooking the sea set in large landscaped gardens. Big swimming pool, tennis court, volleyball court, free internet access, beach access.
Boat trips to the nearby Bongoyo island depart from the hotel depending on tide, this is a lovely half day excursion to Dar’s closest marine park.

THE VERDICT

If arriving on a morning or afternoon flight this is a very scenic place to ease your way into Tanzania. Beautiful location right on the Indian Ocean and a fine restaurant. The boat trip to Bongoyo island is a great excursion and leaves directly from the hotel.
Slightly out of town centre but this is not necessarily a negative point as you will not want to leave the hotel.
Highly recommended and the most atmospheric hotel in this price bracket in Dar.
