Amani Beach Hotel
Located 30 kms south of Dar es Salaam in 40 hectares of indigenous woodland and on a glorious beach a bit further south than Ras Kutani.
THE ACCOMMODATION
10 huge air conditioned cottages with private verandahs and hammocks. Decorated Swahili style with vast zanzibari beds, en suite bath, shower, toilet, walk in wardrobe and even hair dryer. The cottages overlook the ocean and are set in landscaped gardens.
THE FACILITIES
There are 2 restaurants, one in the main building where breakfast and dinner are served and the beach bar and restaurant where lunch is served.
The large swimming pool is down near the beach bar and there is also a tennis court, volleyball, snorkelling, mountain bike trails, windsurfing or riding on the beach at the nearby horse club. Local ngalawa sailing can also be arranged to explore the nearby reefs.
THE VERDICT
I admit I’m biased because I held my wedding here but this is pure luxury, a perfect spot to pamper yourself before or after safari. The cottages are vast, the deserted beach goes on forever without any of the hassle you get on some Zanzibar beaches and the gardens give the impression of being in the bush. Highly recommended!
