MATEMO ISLAND

A private island just 8km long by 3 km wide located in the heart of the Quirimbas archipelago, northern Mozambique.

THE ACCOMMODATION

24 chalets with en suite indoor and outdoor bathrooms, large verandahs with hammock and all are within 10m of the beach.
All chalets have aircon, minibar, satellite TV, hair dryer and electronic safe.
2 chalets have a private dining area (ideal for honeymooners) and 2 chalets are linked (ideal for families)

THE FACILITIES

The large restaurant has an indoor and outdoor deck and the reception has reading areas and day beds.
An activities centre has a variety of board games and is located near the main bar.
There is a swimming pool with shaded sun loungers.

THE ACTIVITIES

Watersports include diving and snorkelling, fishing, sea kayaks, Hobie cats and waterskiing. Sunset cruises, island picnics, cultural island tours, island dhow tours and a day trip to Ibo island can all be arranged at the island.

Luxury in paradise, Matemo offers a private desert island retreat but with all the conveniences of a modern beach resort. Just a 20 min private flight from Pemba, Matemo is now easily accessable from Dar es Salaam and makes an excellent extension to a southern Tanzania safari for those seeking an intimate safari combined with a private beach/diving experience.
