Mufindi
Highland Lodge
Located in the heart of a series of tea plantations
deep in the southern highlands amidst spectacular mountain scenery
reminiscent of Scotland, this is a private estate perched high on
the edge of the Rift Valley escarpment.
THE ACCOMMODATION
8
small but comfortable en suite log cabins complete with bathtub,
as well as a larger family cabin all looking out at stunning mountain
scenery and lakes.
THE FACILITIES
A large central 2 storey building contains the dining
room, bar, television room, billiards room and lounge area as well
as an outdoor balcony.
ACTIVITIES
Parents may be tempted to leave the children here
for a week whilst they go on safari as it is an adventure playground.
Fly fishing in several man made dams, horse riding trails, mountain
biking trails, kayaking, golf, bowls, badminton, forest walks, guided
nature trails to name but a few.
A highlight though is a guided tour of the tea estates with Geoff
Fox and cultural visits to the local villages.
THE VERDICT
This just does not feel like Tanzania but a great
place for something completely different. A very long way from anywhere
so worth spending a few days when you get there with some very bubbly
hospitality.
An extremely whacky place all in all – there is even the only
known Tanzanian sheepdog trials specialist here (and other witnesses
prove it wasn’t just the wine!)
COST - $80 p.p.
