Mbuyuni Farmstay
A private homestead on a working herbal tea plantation in beautiful surroundings just outside Morogoro with stunning views of the Uluguru Mountains
THE ACCOMMODATION
Just 2 private guesthouses with en suite toilet/shower, self catering kitchen facilities and a terrace overlooking the mountains. Can sleep 2 adults and 2 children in each cottage.
THE FACILITIES
This is very much a farm homestay experience with cooked meals on theterrace of the guesthouses and use of the swimming pool - a refreshing break after some of the longer drives up from Selous or Ruaha.
THE SAFARIS
We usually stop here on mobile safaris between Selous and Ruaha but game drives in Mikumi National Park and day visits to the nearby Udzungwa Mountains can be organised in advance. Alternatively there are some great hiking trails in the Uluguru Mountains, cultural visits to the local communities and tours around the tea plantation.
THE VERDICT
A beautiful spot to relax for a couple of days whilst exploring the south of Tanzania. Just 4 hours from Selous, 1 hour from Mikumi and about 6 hours from Ruaha this acts as a central spot to take a break from the car and enjoy the great hospitality of Simone and Kim at a traditional homestead.
