Udzungwa Forest Campsite

Udzungwa Forest Campsite is set in a spacious field away from the road and within easy walking distance of the Udzungwa Mountains National Park main gate.

ACCOMMODATION

A range of tents, mattresses, and other camping equipment are available to rent from onsite staff.

Udzungwa Forest Campsite also offers four traditional Swahili Thatched Huts. Comfortably furnished, well-kept, and spacious, these double rooms, equipped with a double bed, furniture and mosquito nets, offer a unique and exciting alternative to camping under canvas or staying in an everyday hotel room. The bandas are on a slight hill overlooking the campsite and with a view out across the Kilombero Valley.


The thatched huts are shaded by a teak plantation which is popular with Trumpeter Hornbills and the elegant Black and White Colobus Monkey.

FACILITIES

The facilities available at the /Udzungwa Forest Campsite/ include a well-equipped cooking area with a built-in charcoal barbeque, and a large washing-up sink.
There is an attractive fire pit onsite, surrounded by comfortable natural seating. The campsite also has a clean and well-maintained spacious and Western standard shower and toilet block for use of all guests.

The Lozenge Bar and Reception area, currently under construction, will sell essential snack foods, cold beer and soft drinks, postcards and a range of other goods. At the moment cold drinks and snacks can be delivered to your tent or banda on request.

Camping (hired tent) $15 per person per night
Thatched Hut $30 per thatched hut (double) per night or $20 for single occupancy
