Bush and Beach Safari

An 11 day Tanzania safari with private wilderness camping adventures and luxury lodge stays as you visit the expanse of the Selous and the only coastal wildlife sanctuary in East Africa - Saadani National Park.

DAY 1: Dar es Salaam

Met at the airport by the Authentic Tanzania Safaris Team and transferred to your boutique hotel accommodation (Alexander's Hotel, BB) on the Peninsula of Dar es Salaam. Acclimatise in the courtyard style gardens by the swimming pool, and meet the rest of the Authentic Tanzania Safaris team at the roof top bar in the evening for a pre Tanzania safari briefing. Optional activities include a trip to a local craft market.

DAYS 2 to 6: Selous Game Reserve

Set off after breakfast for the start of your Tanzania safari adventure. Your guide will collect you and you will head south to the Selous (5 hr drive). Pass through villages and farm land and enjoy views over coconut plantations on the way into the park. You will have an afternoon Tanzania Safari game drive towards your private Authentic Tanzania Safaris Maji Moto (hot springs) camp and arrive before sunset for camping safari orientation and a sundowner by the lake. Choose from half or full day game drives exploring the differing landscapes and wildlife of the Selous, or relax at camp and let the game pass right by you. On one day go on a morning walking safari to get yet another perspective of this beautiful area. Your camping safari stay will be on an exclusively private basis at the Authentic Tanzania Safaris Maji Moto Wilderness Camp, FB.

Your tent is en suite with hot water available day and night, camp assistants are on hand with ice cold drinks, and the chefs will prepare delicious meals for you using traditional Tanzania camping safari methods.

DAY 7: Morogoro

After breakfast and with your picnic lunch, set off on the next stage of your Tanzania Safari adventure through the north of the park. Exit near the historical railway line linking Dar with the far west of Tanzania, and continue to Morogoro where you will overnight at a working farm retreat. Explore the property by foot and learn about spice farming or pick up some local honey. Cool off in the swimming pool or on the veranda of your beautiful guest villa. In the evening, enjoy a hearty Tanzania Safari meal prepared with the freshest of local ingredients sourced mostly from the farm itself. Stay at Mbuyuni Farm Retreat, HB.

DAYS 8 to 10: Saadani National Park

In the early morning you will leave for your next Tanzania safari adventure. Saadani National Park, a very unique spot on the East African Coastline where the protected forests and grasslands meet the Indian Ocean. Your stay will be at an eco-chic lodge in the park and right on the beach. From your accommodation at Saadani Safari Lodge (FB) you can stroll barefoot to the ocean and keep an eye out for animal prints in the sand. Your AuthenticTanzania Safaris guide will take you on game drives through the park and will be on hand to help you organise any additional activities you may like: walking safaris, river boat or sea safaris and even spa treatments.

DAY 11: Dar es Salaam

Return by vehicle to Dar and relive your Tanzania camping safari and walking safari highlights over a cocktail at Alexanders Hotel (BB). Your Authentic Tanzania Safaris guide will collect you the following day to transfer you the airport for your international flight home.
