2009 Safaris
Vivi Gerlach, Denmark Selous and Zanzibar
January 2009
Selous had a very beautiful nature and lots of animals. It definitely
compared well to the northern parks and with the extra bonus of
very few tourists. We had prides of lions and hunting dogs just
for ourself. Our guide did a god job finding all the animals. One
day we had our picnic lunch very close to a pride of sleeping lions!
As you can understand we had a tremendous trip. Only two important
things prevents us from returning right now: Time and money!
Rainer and Petra Nitschke, Germany. Ruaha
Private Camp June 2009
Excellent. That was our fourth safari in Tanzania, and the Authentic
Tanzania Camp in Ruaha was just the best. The tent itself was really
nice and spacious with the opportunity to watch the stars through
the windows at night. This campsite at the dry sandriver was great,
we saw a lion walking by very close to us while we had our morning
coffee at dawn.
Graham and Rhylle Polke, Australia. Selous
and Ruaha Private Camps, July 2009
Great sites for the camps enabling us to enjoy the views and sounds
of the animals. Love the lion graffiti on the tree beside our tent
at Lake Manze, and the sound of the frogs and hippo at dusk and
through the night. A terrific camping experience, thank you.
Sharon Brady, Ireland. Mikumi, Ruaha and
Mafia Honeymoon, July 2009
Absolutely loved the camping and so glad we decided to go with this
(although did also really like the night in the Mikumi Lodge). The
camp set-up at Ruhua was really amazing. Never expected camping
in the middle of nowhere to be so comfortable. The staff there did
an incredible job of looking after us – food better than a
lot of restaurants! We were lucky enough to have a pride of lions
living close by and hearing them roaring through the night was just
incredible. Just keep doing what ye are doing!
Carla Abbott and Jeff Snow USA. Ruaha, Katavi
and Mahale August 2009
We had a fabulous trip. It was just amazing. Your people in Ruaha
were fantastic. Katavi and Mahala also were great. It was one of
the most wonderful trips of my life. Very well organized and I want
to thank you and everybody that works with you for such a great
job. I am in love with beautiful Africa, the landscape, the animals,
the people everything and everybody were magnificent.
Steve Daymond, Australia. Ruaha Private
Camp September 2009
We had a wonderful safari! Davis is an excellent guide and his intimate
knowledge of the parks really made the difference on this safari.
Nothing like having a Wahehe guide in Wahehe country! In Ruaha the
camp was very well organised and everything ran smoothly. Karim
and Musa were friendly and very efficient.
The lion hunt/kill and the cheetah with his fresh kill were real
highlights (Davis gets so excited with cheetahs) but so was the
impala that had just given birth and we witnessed the baby's first
breath and first steps. We saw birth and death in the African bush
on this trip! But that's not all...... charged by a bull elephant,
charged by female elephants, never seen so many Kudu and Waterbuck,
felt the wind vortex, on two occasions, created by large flocks
of vultures as they took off and circled over our picnic spot, attacked
by large numbers of tsetse flies up in the dry country (they should
change the name of Mwayembe Spring to Ndorobo Spring!), the wonderful
morning walk with Abdul along the river...... the list goes on and
on.

I wanted to drop a quick note of thanks to you, Sven, and the crew
for a
memorable trip. The weather was of course unavoidable, so the relevant
question
becomes one of how well the team handled the problems that arose,
and on that
score, you all did very well. Finding the lion on foot, without
the protection
of a vehicle, was a thrill. Sven was a knowledgeable, supportive
guide, and
took the time to show us things in more depth than one would get
on a typical
lodge-based game drive.
Keith and Antja Gunnar, USA. West Kilimanjaro,
Tarangire, Ruaha, Katavi, Mahale and Zanzibar July 2008
We were very pleased with the trip and are impressed at how smoothly
it went, considering that there were many facets including complex
flight arrangements, several hotels/camps, etc. It all went well.
The private camp at Ruaha was well organized and we were treated
like royalty by your capable camp staff of three. It was fun being
out in the bush by ourselves, and we were impressed at how comfortable
your staff made it. The camp food was outstanding and was equal
to or better than at most camps.
Peter Stender Germany. Ruaha and Zanzibar
July 2008
Thank you very much for all your support and a great service to
make these wonderful days possible. Well done. Sure, the Safari
days are for me always the highlight and the Ruaha is without any
doubt a hidden jewel in East Africa, especially for those who know
the area. In my opinion a good safari means not always the big five,
even the smaller fauna and flora is amazing. Ruaha is huge and great
and I am sure that I will come back.
Hans-Peter and Edith Meyer, Germany. Selous,
Mikumi, Udzungwas and Ruaha July 2008
Safari was excellent and has exceeded our expectations me as a experienced
Africa traveller as well as Edith as 'newcomer'. Special thanks
to Henry: He was a careful driver and a descreet and kind guide.
I am sure it will not have been our last trip to Tanzania and especial
the southern region.
Moore Family, U.K. Ruaha, Selous, South
Coast Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar August 2008
What a truly wonderful safari holiday we had with Authentic Tanzania!
Martin, the girls and I had the most wonderful time and everything
far exceeded our hopes and expectations. It was truly the trip of
a lifetime and we have come back home to a wet and soggy England
with so many fantastic memories.
Frank Brandel, Germany Mikumi and Ruaha
October 2008
Henry was an excellent driver and guide. I still find it
quite amazing how he spotted that group of lions with cubs in the
bush! Aram cooked excellent food and camping equipment was spotless.
Overall an excellent safari

“I will remember all my life this wonderful
special campsite just down that mountain, home of leopard who came
to visit us the first night. We did 7 safaris in Africa, Tanzania
and Botswana and this is the first time that the guide was so enthusiastic
to see animals, to spot lions and leopards and to work from sunrise
to sunset.”

“Everything was excellent. We had a very enjoyable
time and all of
the staff at both camps were superb. I've never spent this kind
of money
on a holiday before and was a little hesitant at first. After day
1 in
the Selous, we knew the cost was well worth our adventure and will
do it
again.”

" The great advantage to us was sole occupancy of the vehicle,
so we could stop and view birds, small mammals, or prolonged behaviour
of individual animals without worrying about other's requirements.
By contrast, the vehicles from the upmarket lodges had multiple
occupants and less flexibility to go where they wished"
