Lupita Island is a unique retreat at the Southern end of Lake Tanganyika

Designed to blend with the local environment, the 12 Luxury Suites
and 2 Executive Suites offer private plunge pools, magnificent lake
views and total privacy. A fully equipped Spa combines holistic
and traditional treatments to pamper the individual needs of each
guest.
Each of the fourteen exquisitely placed, spectacularly designed
villas are nestled on the hillside with breathtaking lake and distant
mountain views. Your individual suite affords total privacy, a gracious
living area with bar as well as a separate spacious bedchamber with
large open verandas. The luxurious beds are dramatically hand crafted,
extra kingsize with down comforters . All of the finest amenities,
top class furnishings and comforts await you. There is a delightful
trickling stream that meanders through your suite finally culminating
into your own personal plunge pool with decks. Each room is totally
open to the lake, ensuring beautiful sunsets and balmy breezes.
Hot waterfall showers cascading over stones, black granite sinks,
large outside baths add to the Lupita experience.
The Livingstone and Stanley Suites have two bedrooms, two bathrooms
and facilities private dining. Butlers are available to accommodate
your every need. Each room is equipped with its own Ipod.

Lupita island is uninhabited except
for the resort and spa. Boasting four speedboats with new engines,
an airstrip on the mainland, and a landing dock where golf carts
await you to take you and your luggage to your suite. The island
has many pathways taking you to the various facilities. In the main
area of the island there is a beautiful upstairs viewing deck, furnished
with the utmost comfort in mind. Downstairs is a fully stocked bar
and lounge with wonderful lighting for evening relaxation. The dining
room with vaulted thatched ceiling ensures constant cool temperatures
and a wonderful ambiance. Everything is open, to give a feeling
of space and oneness with nature. Lupita Island also has a large
infinity pool with a thatched bar for cocktails from the pool deck
or in the pool. There is a gift shop, reception, games room and
internet access available. A fully equipped gym awaits the more
energetic guests at the Northern side of the island together with
the spa and sauna.

with European techniques and rejuvenating spa products. This holistic
healing and rejuvenation spa has been designed to regenerate the

At the Lupita Spa massages, steam
treatments, cleansing facials and herbal body wraps are but a few
of the pleasurable spa treatments that are offered to you. Manicures,
pedicures, the simple necessities of life are elevated to a spiritual
experience here at the Lupita Spa. In addition, a fully equipped
gym with all the latest equipment awaits the active guest.
Located on Lake Tanganyika, Lupita Island is accessible by air to
its own private airstrip on the mainland. There are twice weekly
charter schedules on Mondays and Thursdays, and private charters
can be arranged at all times. 15 minute boat ride separates the
resort from the private airstrip on the mainland.
Charters, day trips and overnight trips on our lake cruiser the
Winsor Rose are available to Mahale Mountains Chimpanzee Park from
Lupita. Katavi National Park is a 20 minute flight from Lupita,
Mahale 35 minutes, and Gombe Stream, Kigoma, one hour.
Lake Tanganyika, with its sapphire waters surrounded by lush awe
inspiring mountains and hills, holds 8% of the world's fresh water
and it is the longest lake in the world being 677km long from north
to south. Visibility under the water reaches more twenty meters
(over sixty feet). For divers and anglers, this is a paradise, with
hundreds of species of fish, and some of the finest game fish in
Africa, including Goliath Tiger fish and Nile Perch.

The Lake Cruiser Winsor Rose is a
magnificent way to discover the charms of lake Tanganyika. This
48 foot, 6 berth cabin cruiser goes out on the lake from Lupita
Island for day cruises or overnight trips exploring hidden islands
and small private beaches while cruising through the crystal clear
waters.
Getting there:
Lupita is a half hour charter flight from Katavi N.P. or about 45
mins charter flight to Mahale Mountains and acts as the perfect
place to relax after visiting Katavi for a big game safari, then
tracking chimpanzees in Mahale. It is then a 3 hour charter flight
back to Arusha.
