NORTHERN TANZANIA SAFARIS
The Northern Circuit
The North still attracts the majority of visitors
to Tanzania on safari and it is now advisable to plan at least
6 months ahead to guarantee reservations.
As a guideline the standard ‘northern circuit’
itineraries will include Tarangire National Park (best visited
from June-December) and/or Lake Manyara National Park (best from
January-June), Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater.
Other areas of interest include Lake
Eyasi, Lake Natron, Ol Donyo Lengai and Empakai Crater –
remote and less visited than the more famous national parks this
makes an adventurous and interesting extension to the more typical
‘northern circuit’ itineraries.

Due to the large numbers of visitors which northern
Tanzania attracts we also recommend private, tailor made tented
safaris using exclusive special campsites – these give you
the freedom to experience the African wilderness in your own space.
The public campsites can become extremely crowded at peak tourist
periods which can detract from the whole African wilderness atmosphere.
Mobile tented safaris offer the most authentic
wildlife experiences, drinks by a campfire and dinner under the
African night sky with the noises of the bush all around provide
memories which will last a lifetime.
Tents are large walk in style and equipped with bed, 3 inch mattress,
bedlinen and a small table with torch, mirror and water. A toilet
tent and shower tent are situated close to the tent. Dinner is
taken either under the stars or in a mess tent and every night
a camp fire is lit.
Private safaris with unlimited kilometres and
unlimited driving time also give you greater control over your
safari, often when taking a lodge based safari you are restricted
to early morning and late afternoon game drives only, on these
mobile safaris there are no restrictions on time or distance covered.
