SVEN LIEBCHEN - SOUTH TANZANIA PROFESSIONAL SAFARI GUIDE
There are professional safari guides in Africa then there are safari
guides who show you a lilac breasted roller and can tell you the
gestation period of an elephant and think their job is done.
The essence of all truly memorable safaris are the memories gleaned
from an experienced safari guide who can share his enthusiasm for
and knowledge of the local flora and fauna.

Authentic Tanzania director Sven Liebchen
is a professional safari guide originally trained to both the South
African and Kenyan guiding qualifications with the added experience
of a Zimbabwe bush skills survival course. He trained under some
of the legendary African guides including Richard Bonham, Mike Pelham
and Dean McGregor.
Sven has grown up in Tanzania since early childhood and is fluent
in German, English and Kiswahili and operates an in house training
programme for the Authentic Tanzania guides. Sven is a specialist
south Tanzania safari guide and widely recognized as one of the
leading guides currently working in the field in both Selous and
Ruaha.
H e spent several years guiding in Selous, setting mobile camps,
leading mobile walking safaris, managing safari camps and even experience
in the hunting sector on anti poaching patrols before discovering
the delights of Ruaha.

Fluent in English, German and Swahili,
Sven's style of guiding is particularly suited to photographers
(both professional and semi-professional) and wildlife enthusiasts
seeking a ‘slow safari’ perhaps with specificwildlife
or birding aspirations.
These private safaris operate on an unrestricted
time/km schedule to fit your requirements and are based from our
private camps.
Authentic Tanzania uses a secluded
private campsite as our base in Ruaha on the banks of a dry sand
river bed often visited by elephant digging for water, and overlooked
by a vast rock outcrop.
The private camp has all the comforts of a permanent camp in terms
of accommodation and meals but provides the excitement and interaction
with the environment that only a night under canvas can offer.

The camp is booked on an exclusive
basis and can cater for families and groups of friends – a
guaranteed private piece of African wilderness.
In 2009 we will introduce a new 3 day/2 night walking safari in
Ruaha guided by Sven, moving to 2 different campsites through the
heart of Ruaha.
In Selous we base our private camps according to the season and
accessability of certain areas but in the peak tourist months from
June-October we base ourselves on the shores of one of the lakes
as close as possible to the best game viewing areas. It is possible
to take morning and evening walking safaris from the private camp.
