RUAHA WALKING SAFARI – 5 DAYS/4 NIGHTS

This mobile walking safari is conducted on the southern Ruaha National Park boundary following the Ruaha River and is guided by Sven Liebchen. Terrain includes the Ruaha River sand river bed, woodland and scrub offering a diverse selection of birdlife and possibilities of sightings of lion, hyena, elephant, hippo, crocodile, kudu, impala, giraffe, zebra. The walk is suitable for anyone of a reasonable fitness level over the age of 12.
Guest speakers from the Wildlife Conservation Society can be organised for an introduction to the area and an explanation of this delicate eco-system.

DAY 1. RUAHA
Clients can be picked up from Iringa airstrip (charter flights from Dar es Salaam) or drive directly from Dar – approx 9 hour drive to the first campsite.

DAY 2-4. RUAHA
Every day the walking distance is between 7-9 kms and the walk follows the river bed of the Ruaha River. Walking will be taken in the morning and afternoon to avoid the main heat of the day and while resting in the hottest time of the day there is ample opportunity for birdwatching from shaded rest areas.
Different campsites are used on days 1-4 with a fully serviced support crew moving the camps every night.
Night drives are also possible every evening from the campsites.

DAY 5. DEPART
Either transfer to Iringa airstrip, drive back to Dar es Salaam or continue on to Ruaha N.P. private campsite.

Drive from Idodi to Ruaha N.P. (approx 1 hour).
Full day game drive in Ruaha N.P.
Overnight Authentic Tanzania Private Campsite. FB

DAY 6. RUAHA N.P.
Full day or morning and afternoon game drives in Ruaha N.P.
Overnight Authentic Tanzania Private Campsite. FB

DAY 7. RUAHA N.P.
Full day or morning and afternoon game drives in Ruaha N.P.
Overnight Authentic Tanzania Private Campsite. FB

DAY 8. DEPART
Fly Msembe, Ruaha to Selous, Katavi, Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar
