KITULO PLATEAU HIKING
Kitulo Plateau National Park is renowned as a botanist, birder’s and hiker’s paradise. Kitulo is home to 350 species of vascular plants, including 45 varieties of terrestrial orchid, which erupt into a riotous wildflower display of breathtaking scale and diversity during the main rainy season of late November to April. However the sunnier months of September to November are more comfortable for hiking. It is possible to hike over the Livingstone Mountains leads to Matema Beach on Lake Nyasa in half a day.
This area is just opening up to tourism and facilities are basic so please ask for further details of specialist guided trips to witness the spectacular wildflower season or guided hiking routes.
