A relaxed driving safari with a variety of safaris, great game drives in Mikumi, walking and boat safaris and game drives in Selous then on to the tranquil Swahili Coast with the fascinating and well preserved Omani ruins of Kilwa Kisiwani.

Day 1. MIKUMI

Drive from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi N.P. (approx 5 hours), afternoon game drive in Mikumi, o/n MIKUMI WILDLIFE CAMP (FB)

Day 2. MIKUMI

Game drives in Mikumi N.P., o/n MIKUMI WILDLIFE CAMP (FB)

Day 3. SELOUS

Drive from Mikumi through the forests of the Uluguru Mountains to Sable Mountain Lodge, located just outside the western boundary of Selous Game Reserve. Approx 6 hour scenic drive
O/n SABLE MOUNTAIN LODGE (FB)

Day 4. SELOUS

A full day in Selous combining game drives to/from Lake Tagalala where we disembark for a stunning boat safari on the lake. This is one of the most beautiful sections of Selous providing the unique opportunity to observe wildlife coming to the shores of the lake to drink, huge crocodiles lurking in the shade, a myriad of birdlife and pods of hippo surfacing near the boat.

Day 5. SELOUS

Game drive through Selous Game Reserve to Rufiji River Camp near the Mtemere Eastern gate. An optional afternoon foot safari can be organised from the camp which is located on the banks of the Rufiji River.

Day 6. KILWA

Drive from Selous to Kilwa – approx 7 hours.

Day 7. KILWA

Day excursion to Kilwa Kisiwani, sailing by traditional dhow on the short trip from the mainland to the island. The impressive ancient Omani ruins are spread out over the island and provide a fascinating insight into what was once the most powerful commercial centre on the east African coast.

Day 8. Depart to ZANZIBAR, MAFIA or DAR ES SALAAM
