WALKING SAFARIS IN SELOUS GAME RESERVE
The exclusive luxury Selous with a View mobile camps
are set in a remote area of Selous Game Reserve with one site located
on the banks of the Rufiji River and another site overlooking the
Simbazi River.
There are just 2 two fully equipped tents at each site (making maximum
4 pax at each site).
The walking safaris can be based from either site or combined with
walking between each site and sleeping in the different camps.
A variety of routes are laid out from both camps and walking is
best early morning and late afternoon to avoid the heat of the day.
Animal hides overlooking the Simbazi waterholes and the Rufiji provide
shade and tranquil game viewing when resting at the hottest times
of the day.
The walk between the camps is around 12 km and there is a crossing
point at a large plateau with great views where you stop for brunch
and drinks before continuing on.
This is an African wilderness safari far removed from the mainstream
tourist trail, please see the walking safari pages and ask for further
details.
PRIVATE CONCESSIONS IN NORTHERN TANZANIA
“I DREAM OF Africa……..”.
The names may not be familiar but some of the finest safaris in
Tanzania are to be discovered in the private concession areas adjacent
to the northern parks. Ask for details of the luxury camps in the
concessions at Loliondo, West Kilimanjaro and Tarangire –
total privacy, walking safaris, night drives and genuine cultural
interaction all enhanced with some of the best wildlife guides in
Tanzania, it’s no wonder the guides tend to migrate to these
areas.
It is even possible to book your own mobile camp tailored to your
own requirements – a popular option for a very personal family
safari.

DIVING IN MNAZI BAY MARINE RESERVE
Mikindani Bay and Mnazi Bay on the South-Eastern
coast of Tanzania are the locations of some of the most spectacular,
exciting and un-discovered diving in East Africa. Here the Southern
Equatorial Current meets the African coast bringing a wealth of
marine life from across
the Indian Ocean. Due to this unique phenomenon the area is now
recognised as the centre of biological diversity for the entire
East African coast.
From August-November Mikindani is a perfect base for whale watching
as humpback whales pass along the coastline.
Some of the best diving in Tanzania is found within
the Mnazi Bay-Ruvuma Estuary Marine Park and includes spectacular
outer reef drop offs, extensive spur and groove formations, channel
and patch reefs. Over 400 species of fish have so far been identified
and more species of coral than anywhere else on the East African
Coast.
The first SCUBA diving operation, marine research
and education centre in the region has been established in Mikindani
Town, Mtwara providing low-impact, eco-aware SCUBA diving and dive
safaris.
Local communities benefit from this venture through their participation
in reef protection and establishment of a local community development
fund.
Ask for details for true pioneering diving opportunities.
